Great Aunt Sylvia's needle work pillow

Didn't get out today to take any pictures. I have a terrible headache. We're going to Michigan for vacation tomorrow -- no posts for a few days.

Another lily

This is a different variety of lily, very common, grows everywhere. I posted a different lily a few weeks ago. Both are orange. I think the first one I posted was originally white!

Wicked!

This was one of my son's smoke bombs -- made me think of the musical "Wicked" we saw last winter.

Hay time!

This is really hard work for my farmer neighbor, especially being 95 degrees outside right now. . . .

Daisy . . . He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not

This flower always reminds me of a game I played as a child where you pulled the petals off one by one to see if "he loves me" or "he loves me not." Did you every play that game?

Wild Mushrooms

These are growing under a pine tree in my yard. The other morning they were growing in a perfect circle -- but when I got back to take a picture, they were all laying down again. I wouldn't try eating them, that's for sure.

Water Balloon Ammunition

Had a water fight with the kids the other day . . . Mom gets to make all the balloons. It takes only a few seconds to use them up! We also used water squirt guns. Ah, summer.

Another Dragonfly

Here's another dragonfly -- not as impressive as the previous posting, but beautiful all the same. . . I hear that they eat mosquitos, so I like them very much!

The Beatles are back???

This is a band called American English, Beatles impersonators . . . playing at a local festival. They are pretty good. The first set is the older Beatles tunes like "Love Me Do" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand." Then they take a break and come back as Sargeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and play later songs. I would recommend seeing them in person.

They say that life is . . . a bowl of cherries!

These are the kind you can eat -- the best taste of summer, right up there with corn on the cob, sweet cherries! See yesterday's post of tart cherries -- see the color difference??

Cherry Tree in the Yard

These are the tart cherries used for pies and jams -- not the sweet ones you can eat right from the tree. I am hoping to have enough for one pie or cheesecake for my husband!
