Vulture in the Cornfield
Yuck. Such a lovely bird (not!). I think he was eating a dead raccoon.

Yes, this is what these birds do and they do an excellent job in keeping dead animals cleaned up. Otherwise we would be plagued all the time by the diseases the dead animals would produce. I am so glad you got these pictures. I only get them flying or soaring and never on the ground. They are excellent pictures.
I like to take photos of life around me, especially what is interesting or beautiful. I look at life in the Crystal Lake, IL area for the daily photo blog -- but nature and things natural always seem to dominate for some reason. I also like to travel to different parts of the world, though right now I am most content to just be at home! Check my blogs frequently, please comment on any photos!
